Sanjay Nirupam’s anti-Congress action resulted in the dissolution of 6 legacy parties
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole remarked, “The way Sanjay Nirupam is commenting, it seems like he has taken a contract to speak against the party.”
Former MP Sanjay Nirupam was dismissed from the Congress on Wednesday. K.C. Venugopal, the party’s general secretary, issued this directive. The directive read, “Taking into consideration indiscipline and complaints of anti-party statements, the Congress President has approved the immediate expulsion of Sanjay Nirupam from the party for a period of six years.”
He had previously been taken from the list of well-known campaigners. “The way he is making comments, it seems like he has taken a contract to speak against the party,” said Nana Patole, president of the Maharashtra Congress.
Within the party, the former Congress MP had been marginalised. He didn’t get the Mumbai North-West seat to run in the elections, which infuriated him. Nirupam blamed the Congress leadership for permitting the Shiv Sena (UBTI) to run from that position. Uddhav Thackeray had declared Amol Kirtikar as their candidate for this seat, in spite of Congress’s pleas.
According to Nirupam, Congress has given itself up to the Shiv Sena (UBTI). “Congress is going against a particular religion because it is excessively practicing secularism,” he said to the Marathi news station ABP Majha.
Leaders of the Congress campaign committee met on Wednesday to address the matter and called for action against him. According to sources, Patole promised that something will be done.

Congress ought not to squander its time and resources on me. They ought to use it to salvage the party instead. In addition, it’s experiencing a severe economic downturn,” he wrote in a post. “The one-week ultimatum given by me is over today, and tomorrow I will make the decision myself.”
According to sources, Nirupam communicated with the Shiv Sena while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was in charge. It appears that the party polled Mumbai North West residents on him, but the results of the straw poll weren’t favourable. The Shiv Sena has not yet declared a candidate.
Under Shinde’s guidance, Nirupam has emerged as a Shiv Sena candidate; nevertheless, the party is worried that Marathi voters could not support him.
Bollywood actor Govinda Ahuja was recently inducted by the party and elevated to the status of celebrity campaigner. They may possibly give him a ticket.
Senior BJP leaders that Nirupam has spoken with are willing to accept him into the party, but there is no guarantee that he would receive a ticket.
Former journalist turned politician Sanjay Nirupam originally made headlines for his ferocious defence of Shiv Sena while serving as editor of the party’s Hindi weekly, Dopahar Ka Saamna. Then, Rajya Sabha MP Balasaheb Thackeray, the head of the party, named him.
Nirupam left the Sena in May 2005 to join Congress. From 2009 till 2014, he represented Mumbai North as a member of parliament. For four years, he was also the Mumbai Congress unit’s leader.
The party lost badly in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections while he was in office. He was then relieved of his duties after being held accountable for the party’s worst-ever performance in the municipal elections. He was one of the few leaders of the Congress party to oppose the party’s choice to work with Uddhav Thackeray to establish the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi administration, which resulted in Uddhav taking on the role of Chief Minister.
