Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Full Match Review:
In order to overcome some turbulence in the midst of the innings and finally gain victory over Sri Lanka, Tanzeed Hasan and Rishad Hussain played key innings. Following the injuries to three players, the host team in Chattogram sealed the One Day series 2-1 in the last three overs of the opening innings. Tanzeed, who was chosen as a substitute for Soumya Sarkar, amassed a career-high 84 runs in his innings, while Rishad hit 48 off of just 18 balls, including five fours and four sixes.
When Bangladesh needed 58 runs to win in 13.5 overs, Rishad came to the crease. He took Wanindu Hasaranga’s opening delivery for a six to start his innings, and he added a boundary and another six that over. In the 40th over, he added two more sixes off Hasaranga’s deliveries, bringing Sri Lanka’s total up to 24 runs. Rishad defeated Hasaranga by scoring 40 runs in total off just 11 balls.

Sri Lanka failed to make a high score in a pivotal match, but they managed to reach 200 runs thanks to a debut century from youthful Janith Lianage in One Day cricket. With 101 runs off 102 balls—11 fours and two sixes—Lianage stayed unbeaten. But Bangladeshi players kept getting injured as Sri Lanka’s innings drew to a close.
Mustafizur Rahman was hit by cramps in the 48th over when he faced Kumar, and Soumya was hurt in the head and leg after he collided with the advertising board. Jakir Ali completed the catch when he collided with Enamul Haque Jr. in the last over, however his injury required hospitalisation.
In addition to testing the players’ physical condition, umpire Tanvir Ahmed substituted Richard Kettleborough after the latter became unwell in the heat.
Enamul and Tanzeed, the opening batters for Bangladesh, got off to a steady start, amassing fifty runs between them. But in the first spell, Kumara became the victim of Enamul. In Kumara’s subsequent over, Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was removed after just making one run.
Tanzeed, in the meantime, managed the innings with caution, hitting six boundaries in his nine overs, two of which came through mid-off. Tanzeed faced Kumara as well, smashing him for a six and scoring thirty runs off of just 19 deliveries. Tanzeed almost avoided being run out in the 17th over, his second One Day fifty, thanks to his distance from the crease. After that, he added 49 runs for the third wicket in partnership with Tawhid Hridoy.
During his third stint, Kumara got rid of Mahmudullah and Hridoy to collect his fourth wicket. Tanzeed was dismissed by Hasaranga in the 26th over after he miscued a shot to long off. This was an expensive error, since Bangladesh was having trouble at 130 for 5.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim put on 48 runs for the sixth wicket, but Mehidy fell after making 25, enabling Rishad to complete the task.
Prior to that, Lianage saved Sri Lanka from receiving a bad ranking. Lianage batted while the other batsmen collapsed around him at 77 for 4, as they were having trouble. He struck two outstanding boundaries at midwicket and executed some exquisite cover drives. He maintained his composure as the wickets fell all around him, particularly when he faced Taskin Ahmed and hammered him for a six off a short delivery.
Having removed Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando, Tashkin had opened Sri Lanka’s innings. Nissanka didn’t review when the latter was given LBW even though it was evident that he was caught behind; instead, replays showed that the ball went leg-side.
After scoring 14 runs in the third straight game, Fernando was removed, this time because to a trap put in place by Mustafizur Rahman. Kusal Mendis, the captain of Sri Lanka, was out to Rishad Hussain after scoring 29 runs due to a lack of focus.
Before Sri Lanka’s route diverged and they found themselves struggling at 154 for 7 in the 35th over, Lianage and Charith Asalanka scored 43 runs for the fifth wicket. But Lianage did not allow the innings to crumble, as he and Mahesh Theekshana put up 60 runs for the eighth wicket.
Lianage and Theekshana shared an innings-long partnership for 13 overs until Soumya hurt himself finishing the 48th over after being caught at square leg off a ball from Theekshana.
Pramod Madushan made a catch, which resulted in a collision between Enamul and Jakir. Despite these injuries and down by six wickets, Bangladesh emerged victorious.
