Malayalam filmmakers have long delighted audiences with emotionally charged, low-budget flicks. Thrillers involving crime and investigation are nothing unusual. After its January release, the movie “Abraham Ozler” brought in more than 41 crores at the box office. It can now be seen on an over-the-top platform. What is the plot of this movie? The serial killer is who?

Jayaram, aka Abraham Ozler, works as an IPS officer. His children and spouse vanish. He experiences mental tension and sleeplessness as a result. In Thrissur, there are several killings happening at the same time.

Some people die from vicious stabbings. They often put notes next to the victims that say “Happy Birthday” scribbled in blood. Who’s committing these killings? How did Ozler’s group manage to capture him? Who is this Alex? (Review of Abraham Ozler) Does this murder have anything to do with it?

Crime and investigative films consistently outperform other films in terms of entertaining viewers. Some people watch these kinds of films regardless of the language, as long as the plot keeps their attention until the very end. Because of this, filmmakers and authors are incorporating a tiny bit of artistic licence into their works, telling a story with it, and putting them on screen. This also applies to Abraham Ozler.

It’s portrayed as a criminal thriller by director Mithun Manual quite effectively. He opens the narrative by introducing Abraham, who is going through a lot in life because his wife and daughter vanished.

The actual narrative starts when a young IT worker perishes in a car crash while receiving medical attention in the hospital. Abraham’s team begins their investigation using some hints that the murderers left behind at the scene.

From then on it was the same pattern, murder after murder. Who is the murderer? Both the police and the moviegoers are perplexed by this question. Ozler looks into the case since there’s a strong link between all the murders and the killer leaves consistent clues.

Throughout this excellent screenplay, the filmmaker manages to keep the audience interested. After the break, with the mystery nearly solved, what will happen next? Here’s where the mystery starts.

But a layperson can only speculate as to what the murderer, should he or she be apprehended, might say to the authorities.

The killer claimed that it was retaliation for his family’s mistreatment.

Maintaining consistency is essential. This movie is not an anomaly. The flashback scenes are quite poignant and make the viewer feel sorry for the murderer. Ozler was unable to maintain such intense emotional intensity, though. If medical experts are involved in hubris, this is a poignant portrayal of how an average man’s life gets turned upside down. The filmmaker made a wise choice by allowing the film to go on while providing a twist in the main sequences with the disappearance of Ojzlar’s wife and daughter.

Who did it: Portrayed as characters

Jayaram, often referred to as AC Abraham Ozler, has played a variety of roles. He is shown as an officer who finds the individuals responsible for the killings and as someone who is profoundly impacted by the loss of his wife and kids. Mammootty is a featured performer. For him, doing such things is a novel challenge. Each has worked to the best of their abilities. The movie is good technically.

Mithun Manual, Director Thomas deserves praise for his efforts in telling Randhir Krishnan’s narrative in an engaging way. But the first half’s appeal petered out as soon as it became a revenge thriller. But there was never any deviation from the topic at hand in the narrative.
