“2024 BJP candidate list: Following his removal from Pilibhit by the BJP, will Varun Gandhi run as an independent? Kangana Ranaut’s Political Career Entry”
Sunday saw the announcement of the fifth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Varun Gandhi was ousted by the party from the Lok Sabha seat in Pilibhit, but his mother, Maneka Gandhi, was kept in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Pilibhit has decided to offer the ticket to Jitin Prasada, a former Congress leader who joined the BJP in 2021, rather than Varun Gandhi.
Varun Gandhi has lost favour with the BJP after repeatedly criticising the governments of Uttar Pradesh and the Centre. Varun Gandhi advised people not to disturb any local ascetic last year, openly criticising Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying that one never knows when “Maharaj Ji” will become chief minister.
After their return from Delhi, Varun Gandhi’s delegates carried four sets of nomination papers for the Uttar Pradesh seat of Pilibhit. Additionally, there are rumours that he may be in contact with other political groups, such as the Samajwadi Party.
Jitin Prasada, who was regarded as one of Rahul Gandhi’s closest allies, quit the Congress, saying he was “ignored.”
In 2004, Jitin Prasada started his electoral career alongside Rahul Gandhi. Jitin Prasada won from Shahjahanpur, a seat his father Jitendra Prasada had won four times, while Rahul Gandhi won the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi. He was chosen as one of the Manmohan Singh administration’s youngest ministers in 2008.
During Manmohan Singh’s second government, Jitin Prasada, who won his second Lok Sabha election from Dhaurahra in 2009, handled a number of positions. He belonged to the G-23, a faction of Congressmen who were unhappy and wanted significant changes made to the party structure.
There were reportedly arguments among the Gandhi family during the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections when Rahul Gandhi shook hands with Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, after the Congress decided not to run alone.
The list of candidates the BJP has put out for the Lok Sabha includes actress Kangana Ranaut
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s political activism frequently makes headlines. After making her prior statement, she refuted any ambitions to pursue a career in politics and returned her attention to her film career.
“I don’t intend to go into politics. I’m shooting a lot of my next flicks. Politics interests me, but only as an artist. Two years ago, the actor told the media, “I am a successful artist.”
But Kangana, a candidate from the Himachal Pradesh district of Mandi, has been nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the next Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled to begin on April 19.
A few hours later, the actress expressed her desire to run for office in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from a “complicated state” in an old tweet that went popular on Reddit.
“I was given the opportunity to vote in Gwalior during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. There is no poverty or crime in Himachal Pradesh, when the population is only 60–70 lakh. If I go into politics, I want to work in a complex state and get to the position of queen there. Big things are beyond the comprehension of small people like you,” she tweeted in March 2021.
It is said to be an unexpected move by the ruling saffron party to field Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut as its candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. Ranaut joined the BJP today and is a businessman and former Congress MP. The party released its fifth list on Sunday.
